In MCTC's Medical Office Assistant Program, you will learn the clerical, computer and administrative support skills you need to become a key staff member for health-related organizations.
The program will familiarize you with medical terminology, biology, hospital and laboratory office procedures, plus give you background in insurance coding and electronic form processing. Extensive hands-on experience with the latest computer hardware and software applications is central to the program. You will also be shown specifically how to apply those skills in a medical environment. Classes also will focus on human relations, oral communication, and professional development skills. While earning your Medical Office Assistant Diploma, you will receive further training to prepare correspondence, schedule appointments, record and chart information electronically, handle billings, and assist doctors and scientists with preparing speeches, articles and conference proceedings. Your job placement opportunities are likely to be excellent, as there is a high demand for trained medical office assistants. There may even be opportunity to work from home. |
